Dancer Stretching
Bronze verdigris resin
Edition of 20
H:26 x W:10 x D:19 (cm)
I crafted this sculpture of a dancer stretching gracefully before her dance routine based on a single photographic image that captured my attention. To bring this dynamic moment to life in three dimensions, I constructed a sturdy armature using steel and mesh, providing a solid foundation for the sculpting process. Layer by layer, I meticulously applied Clayette sculpting clay to the mesh armature, shaping and refining the form to capture the dancer's fluid movements and elegant posture.
Once the sculpting process was completed, the piece was cast in resin with a bronze Verdigris finish. This casting method involved creating a mould of the original clay sculpture, into which the resin material was poured. The resulting bronze resin reproduction retains the intricate details and expressive qualities of the original artwork.
The sculpture is available as a resin cast with a bronze verdigris finish realised by LS Sculpture Casting.
