In a 5-week life modelling class, I sculpted the compelling figure "Agony," depicting an elderly man in a reclining tortured pose. The choice of pose resonated deeply with me as it mirrored the anguish and torment I witnessed during my father's final days, during which he endured a painful and heart-breaking passing, the figure's posture captured the essence of his suffering and distress.

Channelling my emotions into the clay, the act of sculpting this piece became a cathartic and healing process for me. Each stroke and curve of the clay brought me closer to expressing the raw intensity of emotion I felt, allowing me to externalize the complex feelings of grief, loss, and love that overwhelmed me at the time.

"Agony" holds a profound significance for me, serving as a tangible representation of my personal journey through pain and loss. The piece embodies the intimate connection between art and emotion, capturing a moment of vulnerability and strength intertwined.

The sculpture is available in a bronze resin finish realised by LS Sculpture Casting.
